Nike SB 'Arts-Rec' Air Trainer 1 Skate Shoes - Limestone/Pink Quartz-Earth-Dusty Peach
Nike SB are back at it, this time joining forces with San Diego dwellers Arts-Rec Skateshop for a wild capsule. Led by pro skater Kellen James, Arts-Rec has become a cultural cornerstone in the City in Motion, blending street-level authenticity with San Diego’s creative heartbeat. This latest link-up is no exception. It’s a celebration of skateboarding’s duality, where chaos meets curation.
Taking inspiration from Balboa Park’s 99-acre zoo, the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro x Arts-Rec comes dressed in safari vibes, with soft hues and feral details that reflect both the urban wildlife and community spirit of America’s Finest City. It lands alongside an SB Air Trainer 1, which follows the same safari themes, combining rough suede, leopard print patterns and black fur.
The Air Trainer 1 came through as Nike’s first multi-purpose sports shoe, designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield in 1987, which was then adopted (as many Nike models are) by the skateboarding world. Five years on from its last appearance in the SB lineup, Nike SB and Arts-Rec reinvent the iconic silhouette, brining the debossed animal print from the Dunk to the party, along with a rough Pink Quartz suede swoosh landing on top of tumbled leather midfoot panel and Dusty Peach detailing. Arts-Rec branding sits proudly on the iconic Air Trainer Strap for a wild return of an icon.
This is a capsule that pays homage to the convergence of cultures; a nod to San Diego’s rich creative undercurrent and the skateshop that lives at its core.
